Government Employees Told to Stay at Home

The council of Ministers announced today that government employees are obliged to stay at home as a part of efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Effective as of March 25, 2020, the council of ministers, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), decided that government employees should work from home until further notice.

Civil servants who will be assigned to work from home are going to be selected based on directives to be enforced by their respective ministries and government offices.

The measure targets reducing traffic and avoid crowding of transport facilities in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
