Ethiopia Launches Coronavirus Emergency Relief Fund
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) launches a nonprofit relief fund as a response to the spread of coronavirus in Ethiopia.
The fund will be administered by a national resource mobilization committee, which is tasked to collect emergency fund for coronavirus.
This comes just two days after the federal government announced that five billion is allocated to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Ethiopia.
The new committee is mandated to coordinate efforts of gathering financial and non-financial materials for COVID-19 emergency preparedness, Prime Minister Office in its latest press release said.
The office disclosed that the members of the national committee have donated one month of their salary to the national COVID-19 resource pool.
Ethiopia confirmed 12 coronavirus cases so far. The country has tested 576 people as of today.
