Zimbabwean Billionaire keen to Acquire Ethiopia’s Telecom License
Econet Global Ltd announced its interest to acquire a license to provide telecom services in Ethiopia, Bloomberg reported.
Owned by Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa, the company said it is expressing an interest, through its subsidiaries, in order to acquire a telecommunications license in Ethiopia, which is expected to liberalize key economic sectors this year.
Founded in 1993 in Zimbabwe by Strive Masiyiwa, Econet is active in Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Burundi. It has also operations in Europe and South America.
