The new head of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC)

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced the appointment of Hanna Arayaselassie as the new head of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC). This move comes as part of the government’s efforts to bolster foreign investment and improve the functioning of the EIC.

Prior to her appointment, she served as the CEO of Ethiopost, where she spearheaded transformative reforms that resulted in a remarkable improvement in service quality. Under her leadership, Ethiopost tripled its revenues and was honored with the prestigious Postal Excellence Award for the Africa Region in 2023 by the Universal Postal Union.

Hanna’s educational background includes being an alumnus of both New York and Addis Abeba universities, where she excelled academically and graduated at the top of her class. She has also made significant contributions to academia, having served as a lecturer at Addis Abeba University School of Law. In addition, she has held various key positions, such as a senior policy researcher at the Prime Minister’s Office and Deputy Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission under Abebe Abebayehu.

The Prime Minister appointed Hanna Arayaselassie as the new head of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) on January 17, 2023. It is expected that under her leadership, the EIC will continue to play a pivotal role in attracting and facilitating investments, thereby contributing to Ethiopia’s overall development.
