Top 10 Economic Activities by Growth Rate in Ethiopia
Ethiopia’s economy exhibited a nine percent growth in the past financial year. This is two percentage points higher than the amount registered during 2017/18 fiscal year. The expansion in the economy is attributed to 11Pct growth in services, 3.8Pct in agriculture and 12.6Pct in industrial sectors. The total GDP of the country has reached ETB1.8 trillion during the previous financial year.
In terms of economic activities, construction sector has been leading over the past five years, with an average growth rate of 23.4Pct. But during the past fiscal year, it was overtaken by transport and communication, which grew by 21Pct, six percentage points higher than of construction. Health and Social Work is also amongst economic activities that exhibited a drastic growth in the past financial year. EBR
