Ethiopian Business Review (EBR) is an English business magazine published by Champion Communications. EBR’s mission is to deliver research-based content that promotes private-sector development in Ethiopia. EBR has one goal, to be the source of top-notch ideas for people creating, leading, and transforming the Ethiopian Private Sector. It publishes research-based articles with a view of becoming the nation’s premier magazine, publishing cutting-edge, authoritative thinking on the key issues facing the private sector in Ethiopia.

As a magazine dedicated to promoting private sector development, EBR covers topics as diverse as Business Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, Marketing Strategy, Organizational Change, Human Capital, International Trade, Finance, Tax, Customs, Public Policy, Public Sector Development, Privatization, Technology, Commercial and Legal issues.

The Media House Intern:

EBR would like to hire a talented Intern to join its editorial team. EBR’s Internship Program is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to various aspects of the media industry, including journalism, content creation, editing, and production. The intern will work closely with our experienced team, assisting with day-to-day operations and offering valuable contributions to our media projects and initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief in developing content for the monthly recap and regional and international business news;
  • Assist the marketing team in developing content for advertising campaigns and advertorials;
  • Support the administrative tasks of the media house;
  • Attend events and conferences to report on and also network and build relationships with key players in the business world;
  • Meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and integrity in reporting;
  • Upholds journalism ethics and standards; and
  • Ensures strict adherence to the firm’s content guidelines.

Reports to:  Editor-in-chief

Job Requirements

Formal Education/Qualification and work experience

Fresh graduates or prospective graduates of ONLY the year 2023/2024 or 2015/2016 E.C.  from an accredited educational institution in an undergraduate program. Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Economics or other business fields, Communications, Journalism, arts and humanities or a related field. 

Professional requirements:

  • Research and analytical skills with an understanding of writing styles;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an excellent command of English grammar and usage;
  • Knowledge and utilization of social media platforms and formats; and
  • Familiarity with various media platforms, including print, online, and social media.
  • Understanding of current social and economic issues

Additional skills and qualities:

  • Demonstrated proficiency working in transdisciplinary research teams
  • Excellent team player, able to interact well and bring out the best in editorial team members; 
  • Affinity with and commitment to each edition and the goals of EBR; 
  • Proactive and self-motivated, ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using productivity software, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiar with content management systems; and
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and willingness to learn.
