United Insurance, United Bank Donates 8m Birr to Fight COVID-19

United Insurance donates three million Birr to Ministry of Health that will be used to fight against COVID-19.  Likewise, United Bank granted five million Birr as a part of its efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus, which has infected 12 people so far.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) launched a nonprofit relief fund as a response to the spread of coronavirus in Ethiopia. More financial pledges are expected in the days ahead, according to the Ministry.

A national resource mobilization committee is established to collect emergency fund for the outbreak. Members of the national committee, including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, have already donated one month of their salary to the national COVID-19 resource pool.

A new SMS line 444 has also been launched for the purpose, enabling Telecom subscribers to donate from one Birr to ETB1000 by just sending a text.
