The UK dropped from 18 last year and 14 in 2020 to 25th place overall on a list of 51 countries. Its ranking was limited by underwhelming results in the areas of access to capital, government policy support, and in-class entrepreneurial instruction. There were no metrics in which it outperformed the norm. The Netherlands took the top spot in Europe for the second year in a row, mostly due to its entrepreneurial financial sector.
But the UAE, which scored above average on all metrics, topped the list as the best country for entrepreneurs for the second year in a row. It performed exceptionally well in terms of physical infrastructure, government policy assistance, and social and cultural standards. Additionally, it received a very high rating for its school’s entrepreneurship instruction.
The primary forces behind creating an entrepreneurial environment have been identified as high levels of investment and government support.
Given that most UAE entrepreneurs are upbeat about the coming year, the pattern might repeat the following year. Nearly 20 Pct of those surveyed stated that, in five years, they planned to employ six or more individuals. Seventy-seven percent of respondents stated it is simple to launch a business in this country.
