Ethio Telecom Posts 18.5pct Revenue Surge
The state-owned telecom firm disclosed ETB56.5 billion in revenue for the just ended 2020/21 Ethiopian fiscal year, up by ETB8.8 billion from previous year. The enterprise netted ETB31 billion during the second half of 2020/21, up from the ETB25.5 billion during the first half year, during when it lost its assets and service revenues to conflicts in Tigray regional state.
Its mobile voice subscribers stood at 54.3 million, while mobile data and internet customers 24.5 million, and telebirr 6.6 million.
The telecom giant also serviced USD936.2 million over the last three years, still owing USD781 million to external creditors.
For the 2021/22 fiscal year just beginning, Ethio telecom eyes ETB70 billion revenue, a more robust growth of 24pct.
