Dubai Tourism Looks to Ethiopia
Dubai is working to make itself the main center of the world economy, as well as an investment hub and tourism destination. Towards this, Stella Fubara, Director of International Operations with the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM), is in Ethiopia. Stella arrived with Tonye Princewill, CEO of RivExcel, an international management company with a strong presence in Africa, UK, UAE, the Caribbean. RivExcel is assigned to undertake works on the African continent with regards to DTCM, or Dubai Tourism.
Stella is the principal authority for the planning, supervision, development and marketing of Dubai’s tourism sector within Africa.
Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, and South Africa are the main African countries that the department is working on. In Ethiopia, DET will invite key stakeholders for a road show in September and will also promote Ethiopia’s touristic destinations on Dubai Tourism’s website.
Other planned activities are fully-sponsored trips for journalists, artists, and influencers to Dubai as well as facilitations for travel agents and tour operators in Ethiopia to receive support and training to improve their business. A raffle has also been announced for Dubai Tourism Africa’s Instagram page. Organized for 12 Africans, the raffle’s winners will be announced live on the social media’s page.
DTCM issues licenses and permits for hotels and all types of businesses in Dubai and is the main authority that oversees, plans, and develops Dubai’s industries, exporters and the Dubai Investment Development Agency, including tourism and commercial transactions, festivals, and retail businesses.
