AAU Team up with Huawei to Produce Telecom Engineers

The first telecom engineering training center dubbed Huawei-AAU ICT Practice Center is launched inside Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, in partnership between AAU and Huawei Ethiopia. The center targeted capacitating over 2,000 engineers and instructors over the coming three years span.

The USD2.1 million investment is covered by Huawei, of which USD1.9 million is in kind contributions including latest equipment. Huawei also granted USD30,000 scholarship fund to the University for 10 postgraduate students annually over the course.

Apart from developing telecom infrastructure partnering with ethio telecom, Huawei is engaged in multiple projects targeting elevating Ethiopia’s ICT ecosystem, including Huawei ICT Academy.
