Radisson Blu Appoints New GM

The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which runs the Radisson Blu Hotels, appointed Christopher Pike, a British citizen who had been serving as General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Birmingham since June 2010 as its General Manager for its Hotel in Addis Ababa. Christopher Pike replaced Guillaume Massiera who has been running the hotel since February 2010. Massiera has left to establish his own business.

Christopher Pike is a graduate of Middlesex University in Catering, Hotel and Institutional Management. He joined the Radisson Blu Hotel Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, in 1999 as Director of Sales and Marketing. He had worked at that post until he was assigned for a similar post in the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel Bahrain in January 2001. He stayed in Bahrain for two years and three months.

He returned to the Radisson Blu Hotel Muscat in June 2004 to serve as General Manager for 3 years and 8 months. He was Executive Assistant Manager at the Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah for 1 year and 4 months before that. Then he became manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa for two and half years until he returned back at home in June 2010 to lead The Radisson Blu Hotel Birmingham.

Located in the Kazanchis Business District, Kirkos Sub city Kebele 17/18, Addis Ababa, the Radisson Blu Hotel is found near the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The Hotel with 204 rooms and 16 suites is owned by the Emerald Addis Hotels PLC. It is the third international hotel chain to open its doors in Addis Ababa, following Hilton and Sheraton.

Radisson Blue is one of the six chain hotels that Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group runs throughout the world. The group has a portfolio of more than 1,300 hotels in operation and under development in 80 countries. Over 80,000 employees work in these hotels to generate annual revenue of over 7 billion dollars. The group has a plan of increasing its hotels to 1500 by 2015 globally.
