The national poverty rate has fallen by 33Pct in Ethiopia, according to a poverty assessment report released by the World Bank on January 20, 2015. That figure means that roughly 10 million people have been lifted out of poverty; however, according to the report, 35 million people still livebelow the poverty line in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia, together with Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania, might incur costs of USD53 billion if the war in South Sudan continues for the next five years, according to a report released by Frontier Economics, a London-based consultancy group. The cost is associated with security spending and other spillover effects.

Almost three decades after the Yamoussoukro Declaration, in which 44 African countries agreed to the principles of air service liberalization, the African UnionCommission has decided to open a single African air transport market by January 1, 2017. The decision was announced on January 12, 2015 at a meeting held at the Sheraton Hotel.
